The IFLA-CDNL Alliance for Bibliographic Standards (ICABS) core program of IFLA was established in 2003 to assume some of the work of the IFLA core programs that were ending at that time (UBCIM, UAP, and UDT) and to pursue some of the areas that had been identified in digital initiatives and committees of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries (CDNL). With special funding no longer available, the intent for ICABS was to leverage work going on in the member institutions to give IFLA visibility in new areas, particularly related to standards and concepts in the digital resource environment, and support some of the ongoing Section work.
